Mika Singh Threatens to Quit Singing Over Daler Mehndi Alcohol Rumors

When a cabinet minister strutted onto a stage at the Kunjapuri Fair and accused the legendary dholak‑driven singer of drinking before his set, the crowd went silent—then erupted.

The episode unfolded on October 18, 2023, in Tehri district during the Navratri celebrations. Subodh Uniyal, a local MLA, interrupted Daler Mehndi’s performance, demanding he stop after allegedly sipping alcohol at a Durga‑honoring event.

Amid the chaos, Mika Singh, Daler’s younger brother, flew over to the venue and, in a dramatic Instagram video, slammed the press that had swum the singer in scandal. He declared, “If you ever see Daler Mehndi drinking alcohol, I’ll quit singing.” The clip, replete with a scathing critique of unverified news, went viral in 48 hours.

“Daler has been a superstar for 30 years,” Mika bragged, “no one’s ever seen him raise a glass on stage.” The brother didn’t stop there. He urged media to verify facts before publishing headlines that could tarnish a career, offering a stark reminder that even the most celebrated artists can be dragged into false narratives.

The incident has ignited a wider conversation about media ethics in India’s music scene. Critics say the minister’s public outburst set a dangerous precedent, while fans rally behind Daler, demanding a formal apology. Meanwhile, industry insiders fear that a tarnished reputation could ripple across record deals and concert bookings.

As the dust settles, Daler has yet to issue an official statement, while Mika’s tweet thread has become a rallying cry for transparency. The next chapter? Watch for a possible legal filing by Daler’s team and a press conference that could either clear the air or deepen the fire.
