In a flash‑banging incident that unfolded on Saturday night in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, 28‑year‑old Mayank drove a Toyota Urban Cruiser at his wife Sunita, who had caught him with a girlfriend, after which police arrested him on charges of attempted murder.
The pair had been eating momo with alleged girlfriend Mahi when Sunita burst onto the scene, banging on the car windows and demanding the driver stop.
Circle Officer Sangram Singh confirmed a case of attempted murder, assault and dowry harassment was lodged, and both Mayank and Mahi were taken into custody; the Toyota Urban Cruiser bearing registration UP15ER3086 was seized.
Neighbors who heard the commotion later said Sunita was screaming for help, shouting “Bhaiya bachaiyo” as the car drove 100 metres before it stalled.
Investigators will present the evidence to the Meerut police court on Monday, with a formal charge sheet expected by the end of the week.
