The Kilikollur police have arrested two individuals, identified as 40-year-old Sreeja and 31-year-old Sudheer, for their involvement in a major organ trade racket in Kerala. The operation was launched following a tip-off regarding an illegal organ trade syndicate using forged documents to bypass legal protocols.
The probe revealed that the duo had been orchestrating the sale of human organs for substantial financial gain by creating sophisticated counterfeit records. In addition to the agents, the police also arrested a young man who had allegedly agreed to donate his organ for money under the influence of the suspects.
The investigation further disclosed that the arrested individuals were acting as agents for the primary mastermind of the racket, Muhammad Najib, a native of Kasaragod, who is currently in the custody of the Ernakulam police for his involvement in similar criminal activities elsewhere.
The successful raid and subsequent arrests were carried out by a police team led by Kollam ACP Rajesh T.R. and Kilikollur Police Inspector Jayaprakash. Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects to uncover the full extent of the network and identify other potential victims or collaborators involved in the illicit trade. The court will likely hear the case in the coming days, with further investigations and proceedings expected to follow.
