New Zealand’s Parliament approved a free trade agreement with India on Wednesday, passing the bill 93–29 with the opposition Labour Party’s backing.
The deal removes or cuts tariffs on 95% of New Zealand’s exports to India, ranging from dairy and seafood to high‑tech equipment.
Parliament said the agreement follows years of negotiation and will require customs adjustments before full implementation.
The agreement will take effect on 1 March 2025, after both sides align regulatory standards.
