US President Donald Trump has issued a veiled nuclear threat against Iran, warning that if a ceasefire is not reached, the country will be subject to a 'big glow'. The threat was made during a press conference on Thursday, in which Trump also insisted that negotiations with Tehran are still ongoing despite the escalating hostilities in the Gulf.
The comments come after renewed missile exchanges, drone attacks, and naval skirmishes in and around the Gulf, with both sides accusing each other of violating a ceasefire framework.
According to a classified CIA assessment, Iran may be able to withstand the US-led naval blockade for at least three to four months, despite heavy bombardment and economic pressure. The assessment also estimates that Iran still retains roughly 70% of its missile-launch capability.
The situation is expected to continue to escalate, with Trump scheduled to visit Beijing later this month. The US and Iranian governments have not yet announced any plans for further negotiations or diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis. The UN Security Council is likely to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the situation in the coming days.
