Pragyan Ojha has taken the reins as chair of the BCCI men’s selection committee, while former India spinner Ramesh Powar has been welcomed into the five‑member panel.
Ajit Agarkar’s tenure as chair ended on 4 October 2026, after a stint that saw India lift the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups, the 2025 Champions Trophy, two Asia Cup titles and back‑to‑back Asian Games gold medals. The committee credited him with steering the national side through a golden era.
Ojha, a left‑arm spinner who played 24 Tests, stepped into the chair role based on seniority from his 18 ODI and 6 T20I caps. He joined the panel in September 2025 alongside former pacer RP Singh and will now steer the selection process.
Powar brings a wealth of experience: two Tests and 31 ODIs for India, plus coaching stints with the India women’s team, Mumbai, Gujarat and as bowling coach at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. He guided the women’s side to an Asia Cup title and a Commonwealth Games silver.
