India's women's recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and Kumkum Mohod won the gold medal at the Archery World Cup Stage 2 in Shanghai on May 10, 2026, defeating hosts China 5-4 in a shoot-off after the four-set final ended in a 4-4 tie. Deepika Kumari sealed the win with a pressure 9 in the final arrow, delivering a combined 28-26 score in the shoot-off.
The Indian team took the first set but lost momentum as China leveled the match. The hosts pushed hard in regulation, but India held firm to force the decider. Earlier in the competition, the trio stunned South Korea, the 10-time Olympic champions, in the semifinals.
The victory marks India's first recurve team gold at the Archery World Cup since 2021. Pravin Jadhav had secured a bronze in the compound individual event on May 9, making it India's second medal of the tournament.
India remains in contention for another medal as Simranjeet Kaur advances to the women's individual recurve semifinals. The next match will determine her place in the final for a shot at her first individual World Cup medal.
