Owaisi Sets October 2 Deadline for AIMIM's Uttar Pradesh Alliance Decision

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi announced at a Kanpur rally that the party will decide by October 2 whether it will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly election in alliance with other parties. The alliance partners will be revealed in a press conference later this week, potentially reshaping the opposition coalition against BJP's bid for a third consecutive term.
At a Sunday rally in Kanpur's Cantonment constituency, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi called on regional parties to band together against the BJP's third consecutive term in Uttar Pradesh.
He reminded listeners that when AIMIM pushed for six seats in Bihar, rivals rejected the offer and later targeted the party, warning that a lack of alliance would weaken Muslim representation.
The party launched its 2027 campaign in June from Bahraich's Matera and has since mobilised around 200 assembly seats, concentrating on districts where Muslims form a critical voting bloc.
Owaisi has kept ties open with Mayawati's BSP, Chandrashekhar Azad's Azad Samaj Party, Rajasthan's RLP and RLD, and plans to disclose its coalition partners in a press conference later this week, setting the stage for a united opposition.
