Retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta has been appointed as advisor to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, effective immediately. Gupta, a 1990 batch officer, previously served as the Special Roll Observer for the Election Commission of India's SIR exercise prior to the recent Assembly elections.
Gupta's appointment is expected to leverage his vast experience in policy coordination and governance-related matters to support the new administration.
Additionally, IAS officer Shantanu Bala has been appointed as the chief minister's private secretary, as part of the restructuring of the Chief Minister's Office following the change in government.
