An international symposium on precision antibiotic therapy in the era of antimicrobial resistance opened Friday at JSS College of Pharmacy in Mysuru. Titled 'JSS TDM 1.0', the event is sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation and marks the virtual inauguration of the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) Centre at JSS Hospital.
The inaugural session featured Jian Lynn, clinical pharmacist from Malaysia's Ministry of Health, as chief guest, with Prashant Vishwanath, dean of Research at JSS AHER, and Narayanappa D., principal of JSS Medical College, in attendance. Organising chairman T.M. Pramod Kumar, convener B.M. Gurupadayya, and associate professor R.S. Savitha were present, alongside Akila Prashanth, professor of Biochemistry.
The symposium will continue through Saturday with technical sessions on LC-MS innovations, genomic profiling, and real-time dose optimisation in antibiotic therapy. Experts from India and abroad are participating in discussions aimed at improving clinical outcomes through targeted antimicrobial treatment.
The TDM Centre's launch is expected to support clinical decision-making by enabling precise drug level monitoring in patients. The symposium concludes Saturday with a closing plenary and recommendations for future research collaborations.
