Impersonator Posing as Amit Shah Calls AAP MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Police Probe Begins
An unknown person impersonated Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a phone call to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal, claiming to summon him to Delhi for a meeting, according to police sources. Chabbewal, the MP from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, reported the incident to authorities after suspecting foul play.
The caller used a suspicious number and mimicked Shah's identity to lend credibility to the request, but Chabbewal grew wary and verified the matter through official channels. He subsequently filed a formal complaint with local police, who have registered the case.
Investigators are now tracing the origin of the call and identifying the perpetrator, with preliminary focus on digital forensics and call records. The motive behind the impersonation remains unclear.
Police officials confirmed the probe is ongoing and said they will coordinate with central agencies if evidence suggests a broader security breach. The court will resume hearing on Tuesday.
