Police found 25‑year‑old UPSC aspirant Alta Bharat Kumar Reddy dead by hanging in a rented flat in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar on Monday at 2:38 pm.
The fire brigade broke the locked door at 2:45 pm, revealing Reddy suspended from a ceiling fan; the scene was confirmed as a suicide by the Crime and FSL teams.
Reddy, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had been residing in the coaching hub for almost a year while preparing for the UPSC examination, according to police records.
A note found at the scene cited extreme stress from exam preparation, highlighting the mental‑health pressures that many aspirants face.
The incident has sparked demands from mental‑health organizations to bolster counseling services in coaching centers; police will convene a meeting with coaching institute heads on Tuesday.
The case has been forwarded to the Delhi Crime Branch, and forensic analysis will be completed next week before any further action is taken.
