The Lucknow Police have arrested four individuals from Chhattisgarh for allegedly selling AI-generated fake IPL 2026 match tickets outside the Ekana Stadium during the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday. According to DCP Amit Kumar Anand, the accused used ChatGPT and graphic design software to create the fake tickets.
The incident came to light when a person was found with a fake ticket, leading to an operation by the Cyber Cell Lucknow and the Sushant Golf City police team. The accused were arrested and found to be residents of Durg district in Chhattisgarh.
In the match, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by nine runs via the DLS method, with Mitchell Marsh scoring 111 off 56 balls and Rishabh Pant adding a quick unbeaten 32 off 10.
The win snapped LSG's six-match losing streak and gave them their first home victory of the season. The police are expected to take further action against the accused, and the IPL authorities may increase security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
