Jio Platforms’ ₹30,213 crore IPO reached full subscription within 100 minutes of launch, a record pace for a large public offering.
Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) were the fiercest bidders, taking 9.42 times the allotted shares by 7:30 pm, while retail investors lagged at 0.73 times. Non‑institutional investors subscribed 1.68 times, employees 1.36, shareholders 1.46.
The total demand topped ₹3.2 lakh crore, comprising ₹70,000 crore in first‑day public bids and over ₹2.5 lakh crore from the anchor book, which saw institutional interest roughly 30 times the allocation.
Jio Platforms’ offering eclipses Hyundai Motor’s ₹27,870 crore IPO and LG Electronics’ ₹11,605 crore issue, and it outpaces Bajaj Housing Finance’s 2‑pm full subscription, underscoring the telecom giant’s market traction.
Proceeds will be directed mainly to repay or prepay borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, with the company filing a detailed use of funds in its prospectus. The shares are slated to list on the BSE and NSE on October 28, 2026, after the allotment closes on October 23.
Analysts now focus on the post‑listing price dynamics and the potential dilution of Reliance’s stake, while investors eye the strategic use of the capital to strengthen network rollout.
