Yash Kumar Chauhan is provisionally suspended after a positive doping test at the Asian Games.
The International Testing Agency, working for the Olympic Council of Asia, flagged metabolites of Metandienone and GW1516, along with Mephentermine and its metabolite, in the 24‑year‑old’s sample taken on September 27.
Chauhan had lost his 90kg bout to Tajikistan’s Mirmamadov Shakarmamad in the round of 16 that very day, but the test came back just hours later.
India’s only kurash medal came from Pincky Balhara’s bronze in the women’s 78kg, while the men's side now sits in limbo with Chauhan barred from training, competing or coaching.
He can appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, request a B‑sample re‑analysis, or challenge the suspension, but meanwhile his future at the Games and his international prospects hang in the balance.
