A Delhi court on Saturday found former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain guilty of abetment to rioting under IPC Sections 147 and 109 in the Dayalpur case linked to the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots.
The judgment lists 13 accused, but only Hussain was found guilty; the rest were cleared for lack of evidence.
In July, a separate Delhi court convicted Hussain and four others for the murder of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma, finding him guilty of promoting enmity, assault and murder.
The February 2020 clash in Dayalpur, part of the larger Northeast Delhi unrest, claimed 53 lives, injured thousands and left property damage in crores.
The court will hear on November 16 to decide Hussain's sentence; meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has suspended him pending the verdict.
The conviction follows the ongoing grief of Ankit Sharma's father, Ravinder Kumar, who has called on authorities to act swiftly.
