Urvil Patel of Chennai Super Kings scored a record-breaking 65 off 23 balls, including a 13-ball fifty, to help his team secure a five-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants. The match, played at Chepauk, saw Chennai Super Kings chase down 204 runs, with Patel's innings featuring eight sixes and two boundaries at a strike-rate of 282.61.
Patel credited clear instructions from the coaches and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for his success, saying he was told to maintain a stable base and hit the ball. He also appreciated Gaikwad's advice on the pitch conditions, which had started staying slightly low during the chase.
The youngster's explosive innings powered CSK to 97/1 in the powerplay, the highest powerplay score ever recorded at Chepauk. Although LSG fought back in the middle overs, Chennai eventually completed the chase with four balls remaining after Shivam Dube smashed consecutive sixes in the final over.
