The Palatine Police seized a Ruger‑style rifle, 200 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, a tactical vest with white‑supremacist patches, and the suspect’s manifesto titled "Why I Fought" during an arrest on October 11 at Paporakis’ residence in Aurora.
The document, retrieved from the suspect’s hard drive, detailed a plan to target a Hindu place of worship and included graphic calls to violence against people of South Asian descent.
"I am horrified that a white supremacist allegedly attempted to massacre Indian Americans at a Hindu temple," Krishnamoorthi posted on X, urging the FBI and DOJ to intensify scrutiny of online hate influencers.
The Indian American Advocacy Council added that the recovered materials reveal a broader network of extremist content, and the Hindu American Foundation urged local worshippers to report suspicious activity.
A family from the St. Mary’s Hindu Temple in Aurora, who had gathered for Navaratri celebrations, said they feel a renewed sense of vulnerability but remain hopeful that federal action will deter future threats.
The Consulate General of India in Chicago praised law‑enforcement authorities for their swift response and announced it would continue monitoring the community’s safety.
The FBI is expected to file formal charges against Paporakis and the DOJ will convene a review panel before the case moves to a federal court hearing scheduled for early November.
