Thieves broke into two locked flats in Noida's The Crescent apartment on the night of October 11–12, 2023, and stole gold and cash worth ₹2 crore. The first victim, Nitin Jain, reported that the burglars entered between 2:00 and 2:30 a.m., taking a 100‑gram gold biscuit, a 25‑gram gold coin, nearly two kilograms of silver, and ₹1 lakh in cash.
Jain's inventory included 40‑45 gram gold necklaces, four gold bangles, a mangalsutra, and several rings, totaling an estimated ₹1.05 crore in value. The second target, owned by Dhanalakshmi, was empty as she was in the United States; her flat also yielded precious items, raising concerns over The Crescent's security.
According to the complaint, the suspects first scouted the society around 2:00 a.m., then scaled a perimeter wall to bypass the main gate. They used a hand cutter to break the door locks before looting the interiors, with their movements captured on CCTV footage.
Sector 49 police registered a case and began a forensic review of the video. Officers are combing the footage for faces and vehicle details to locate the accused.
A police spokesman confirmed that the investigation is in its early stages and that a team will soon attempt to arrest the culprits. Residents have demanded tighter security measures.
