The Telangana government will rebuild the 800-year-old temple in Ashoknagar area of Khanapur Mandal in Warangal at the same location, according to a statement by the District Collector. The temple, which dates back to the Kakatiya era, was demolished recently to make way for a residential school complex.
The District Collector's statement said that the temple will be restored in consultation with historians, Stapathis, and the Archaeology Department, and efforts will be made to notify the structure with the Archaeology Department.
A joint inspection was conducted on May 6 by officials from the Revenue Divisional Officer, Archaeology Department, and other agencies to assess the site.
A grievance has been filed with the Centralized Public Grievance Redress And Monitoring System demanding that the temple be rebuilt and action be taken against officials responsible for its destruction. The grievance filed by Rama Rao Immaneni said that the temple could have been easily dismantled and reassembled, and necessary action should be initiated against the officials responsible.
The immediate next steps will involve consultation with historians and experts to restore the temple, and the Archaeology Department will be notified to take necessary action to preserve the site. The court or relevant authorities are expected to review the grievance and take appropriate action in the coming days.
