Meryl Streep sells Greenwich Village townhouse to Johnson & Johnson heiress for $9.1 million

Meryl Streep sold her five‑story townhouse on West 12th Street to Libet Johnson, a Johnson & Johnson heiress, for $9.1 million in 2005.

Johnson held the property for two years before selling it for $12.8 million in 2007, after which Elisabeth de Kergorlay, a countess and entrepreneur, acquired it for $13.5 million in 2008.

The 1845‑built Greek‑Revival townhouse spans 6,585 sq ft across five stories, six fireplaces, a marble‑finished bathroom, a rooftop garden, and a terrace overlooking a private garden.

Streep's decade‑long ownership turned the residence into a symbol of Hollywood glamour, while its later owners—an heiress, a countess, and a high‑profile buyer—each added their own chapter to the building’s storied past.
