The Karima Armed Assault Division derives its name from Karima Baloch, a prominent pro‑independence activist and former chairperson of the Baloch Students Organisation‑Azad, who was mysteriously killed in Toronto in 2020. Her legacy fuels the unit’s narrative of women armed for Baloch rights, a first in the region’s militant history.
The BLF’s statement also highlighted coordinated assaults by the Baloch Republican Army, which struck the Mari Energies Limited site in Dera Bugti, killing three employees and injuring several others, and later seized police facilities in Haji Shehr before withdrawing.
