Shares of Tata Elxsi, listed on the NSE, climbed 5.2% to ₹3,426.7 after market hours, setting a bullish backdrop for the Q2 earnings release.
The company posted constant‑currency revenue growth of 2.3% and an EBIT margin of 19.7%. Analysts had forecast 1.5% revenue growth and 19.2% margin; the results beat both.
Despite the upside, nearly half of the 19 analysts covering the stock maintain a "sell" stance. JPMorgan, with a neutral rating, set a ₹3,200 price target—a 6.6% downside from current levels— citing EU headwinds and a higher H2 base that could blunt growth.
Motilal Oswal also recommends selling, trimming its price target to ₹2,970 and projecting a 13% slide from the recent close. The brokerage notes that while U.S. and Indian auto contracts buoy the business, European demand remains weak, potentially offset by gains in other verticals.
Sector peers such as L&T Technology Services, KPIT Technologies and Cyient are chasing similar 6.6% FY27 revenue growth, yet Tata Elxsi’s premium valuation reflects its strong auto footprint. JPMorgan lowered FY28 earnings estimates by 10%, trimming margins by 200–240 basis points amid uneven demand.
Looking ahead, management expects H2 FY27 to outpace H1, though margins will gradually improve toward a 22% target by FY28. Investors will watch the July filing for guidance and the Euro‑zone outlook that could shape the next quarter.
