JPMorgan Offered $1M to Settle Sexual Assault, Harassment Claims Against Executive Lorna Hajdini

JPMorgan Chase offered former banker Chirayu Rana $1 million to settle allegations of sexual assault and racial harassment committed by senior executive Lorna Hajdini, according to The Wall Street Journal. Rana rejected the payout and proceeded to file the lawsuit publicly, accusing Hajdini of misconduct and using racially charged language.
JPMorgan denies the allegations, stating its internal investigation found no evidence to support Rana's claims. A bank spokesperson said the settlement was intended to protect Hajdini from reputational harm, not to admit liability, adding that the public filing only reinforced the bank's position that the claims are baseless.
New testimony included in the refiled lawsuit describes a 2024 incident in a New York City apartment, where a family friend of Rana's said a drunk and naked Hajdini pressured him to join a threesome, claiming, 'you know I own [redacted], so you better come join.' Another witness, the apartment's owner, reported hearing Hajdini say, 'I own you Brownie,' during a building entry in September 2024.
Rana's attorney, Daniel Kaiser, questioned the bank's denial, noting that employers rarely make large settlement offers if they believe allegations are entirely false. The lawsuit is now active, with legal proceedings expected to resume in the coming weeks.
