Karnataka's Minister for Planning and Statistics D. Sudhakar died at the age of 66 in a private hospital in Bengaluru early Sunday, May 10, 2026, after a prolonged illness. He had been on life support for over two weeks following a severe lung infection.
Sudhakar was undergoing intensive treatment at KIMS Hospitals in Electronic City, where medical staff declared him dead at 3:15 a.m. He was a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, representing the Hiriyur constituency.
Political leaders across parties expressed condolences. AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala praised Sudhakar as a dedicated Congress leader with deep grassroots connections, while Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar also offered their condolences.
