Mississippi Storms Cause Widespread Damage, Multiple Tornadoes Reported

A powerful storm system, including at least one confirmed tornado, caused widespread damage in Mississippi, collapsing hundreds of homes, tearing up trees, and downing power lines, authorities said on Thursday. The storms struck several counties on Wednesday night, with no immediate reports of deaths, but several injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service reported a large and dangerous tornado moved from eastern Lincoln County into Lawrence County, with Governor Tate Reeves confirming multiple tornadoes were reported throughout the central and western parts of the state.
A mobile home park in the small community of Bogue Chitto in Lincoln County was severely damaged, with resident Max Mahaffey describing the destruction to WAPT-TV.
The state Emergency Management Agency is coordinating response efforts, with damage assessments ongoing and multiple roads blocked in Lincoln County. The weather service warned of more storms expected on Thursday, with the possibility of tornadoes across parts of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. The court and emergency services are expected to resume operations and provide further updates on the damage and relief efforts in the coming days.
