Mahesh Karshanbhai Thakor was taken into custody on October 21 after officers in Banaskantha recovered the body of 18‑year‑old Ashok Bhagabhai Thakor from a shed near Swaroop Patiya.
Investigators say Thakor lured Ashok to a farm shed, fed him liquor laced with sedatives, then strangled him. The body was hung from the roof to mimic a suicide, a plan foiled when relatives found the scene and rushed Ashok to the government hospital in Vav, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The motive traces back to a two‑year romance between Ashok and Mahesh’s sister, a relationship that sparked bitter feuds between the families. The affair’s fallout led Thakor to orchestrate the fatal trap.
The Vav police station has formally registered a murder case against Mahesh and co‑accused Kiran Johabhai Thakor. Forensic teams gathered evidence from the shed while awaiting post‑mortem results. A charge sheet is expected before the first court hearing on December 5.
Ashok’s parents, still in shock, expressed disbelief at the brutality, stating they had no idea their son was involved in such a dangerous liaison.
