INDIA Bloc Faces Uncertainty as DMK-Congress Ties Fray

The INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties in India, is facing uncertainty after the Congress party's decision to ally with actor Vijay's TVK in Tamil Nadu led to a rift with MK Stalin's DMK. The DMK has called off its decades-old ties with the Congress, with senior party leader TKS Elangovn stating that the INDIA bloc is no longer viable.
The Congress party's move to ally with TVK, which won 108 seats in Tamil Nadu, has been seen as a betrayal by the DMK, which had been a key constituent of the INDIA bloc. The bloc, which also includes Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party, had been seen as a potential alternative to the ruling BJP.
The situation has been further complicated by Rahul Gandhi's conciliatory stance towards the Trinamool Congress after its defeat in the recent elections. However, it is unclear whether this will help to address the situation with the DMK or have an impact on the other allies.
The upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly election in 2027 is likely to be a crucial test for the INDIA bloc, with the Congress and the Samajwadi Party potentially contesting the elections jointly or separately. The election may provide a clue to the future of the bloc and its ability to present a united front against the BJP.
