Two Minors Die in Uttar Pradesh After Mother Attempts Self-Immolation

Two minor girls, Vandna, 10, and Jasprit, one-and-a-half years old, died of asphyxiation after their mother, Anita, 30, attempted self-immolation at their residence in Kairana town, Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. According to police, Anita set herself on fire on a bed inside a closed room, causing heavy smoke to accumulate and suffocate her daughters, who were inside the room at the time.
Circle Officer Hemant Kumar stated that police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured woman and her children to a hospital, where Vandna and Jasprit were declared dead on arrival. Anita is currently undergoing treatment.
The incident occurred in the absence of Anita's husband, Jassi, and police suspect a family dispute triggered the woman's attempt to kill herself. An investigation into the incident is underway.
The children's bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The court or relevant authorities are expected to take further action based on the investigation's findings, with the next steps to be determined in the coming days.
