BJP Stakes Claim to Form Government in Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma Re-elected as Legislative Party Leader

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance has staked claim to form government in Assam, following the re-election of Himanta Biswa Sarma as leader of the BJP Legislature Party. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the move after a meeting at the party's Guwahati office, where Sarma was unanimously elected by BJP MLAs and backed by NDA allies Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People's Front.
