Published: May 8, 2026
The CPI and CPI(M) have formally backed C. Joseph Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam to lead the next Tamil Nadu government, sending letters of unconditional support to the Governor. With Congress already on board and VCK expected to follow, TVK is poised to form the new administration.
The Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) have extended unconditional support to actor C. Joseph Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) for the formation of the Tamil Nadu government, formalizing their stance through letters to the Governor and the party on May 8, 2026. The move brings TVK, which won 108 Assembly seats, closer to a majority with the backing of four Left MLAs and prior support from the five-member Congress legislature party.
