The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) is preparing to announce its support for C. Joseph Vijay and the formation of a government led by his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Tamil Nadu. A letter of support, as requested by TVK, will be submitted to enable the Governor to invite Vijay to form the government, according to party sources.
VCK Legislature Party leader V. Vanniarasu is traveling to Chennai to sign the letter, joined by fellow MLA L. E. Jothimani. The decision followed a lengthy internal meeting, during which senior leaders emphasized the need for a common minimum programme rather than unconditional support, distinguishing the approach from that of Left parties.
VCK national president Thol Thirumavalavan met outgoing Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin the previous night, a move described by a party source as a gesture of political courtesy given VCK's alliance ties with the DMK. TVK leader Adhav Arjuna also met Thirumavalavan to seek support, which the VCK justified as a step to prevent Governor's rule and block an AIADMK-led administration.
Thirumavalavan is expected to officially confirm the party's decision later today. The Tamil Nadu Governor will then assess the claims to government formation based on submitted letters of support.
