Cindy Hook said she will leave her post as CEO of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games organising committee at the end of her four‑year contract, a decision announced a week after the Games’ emblems were unveiled.
A former Deloitte Asia Pacific chief, Hook has built the committee from nothing, set the Games Vision and Plan, crafted the brand narrative, and launched the emblems that have already sparked early market buzz. —She told reporters the foundations for success had been laid and it was the right time for fresh leadership. Andrew Liveris praised her as an “exceptional leader” who turned a small start‑up into an established organisation, while Ian Chesterman noted her role in laying the groundwork for a lasting legacy.
The organising committee will begin the search for Hook’s replacement immediately, ensuring a smooth hand‑over as the project moves from early planning to the operational work that will deliver the Games.
Brisbane 2032 has already secured the 2032 Olympics in July 2021, becoming the third Australian city to host the Summer Games, and the new CEO will steer the next stages of planning and delivery ahead of the 2032 event.
