Alsa Mamatha, a Class VII student at MPUPS Bhupalapatnam in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, Telangana, has secured patent registration from the Indian Patent Office for her smart parking management system. The innovation aims to reduce congestion in public spaces by enabling real-time identification of vacant parking slots.
The system, titled 'Parking Management in Crowded Places,' uses IR sensors and an LCD display to indicate whether a parking slot is occupied or empty. When a vehicle enters a slot, the display updates to 'Slot Full'; when vacant, it shows 'Slot Empty.' The model was first recognized at the district-level INSPIRE exhibition, where it won first prize, and later advanced to the State-level competition.
Mamatha's guide teacher, Moulkari Keshav, and District Science Officer Katukam Madhukar received certificates for their support. On Friday, Director of School Education E. Naveen Nicolas congratulated the team, stating the achievement highlights scientific talent in government schools and could inspire greater student participation in innovation.
