Bengaluru Rural police on Thursday seized 250 kilograms of ganja valued at ₹1.25 crore from a truck transporting poultry feed and arrested its driver and cleaner, identified as Ramyan Yadav and Sabir Khan, both in their 50s and natives of Chhattisgarh. The arrest occurred near Bannerghatta Road following intelligence inputs that led officers to intercept the vehicle.
Police said the contraband was concealed within the poultry feed shipment en route from Chhattisgarh to Tamil Nadu. A preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused were instructed by a man from their hometown to transport the narcotics, allegedly unaware of the full nature of the consignment. The Jigani police, who conducted the operation, stated the drugs were destined for a receiver in Bengaluru.
The accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations are ongoing to identify the supplier and the intended recipient in Bengaluru, police said.
