Last month, DoorDash driver William Koroma’s vehicle suffered brake failure on Church Road in Bowie, Maryland, sending the car into a massive collision that totaled the vehicle and left no serious injuries. Police and paramedics arrived within minutes, but the driver survived the crash unharmed.
Despite the wreck, Koroma called customer Glenn Ndibnu to explain the situation and, instead of canceling the order, offered him the chance to pick up the food at the accident scene. Ndibnu accepted, drove to the location, and began recording the surreal exchange.
The footage, captured on Ndibnu’s phone, showed him walking onto the pavement where a DoorDash box lay beside the mangled car, and the two men exchanging a brief apology before he collected the order. Within hours, the clip had been shared across social media platforms and was trending for its unexpected heroism.
The viral video prompted Ndibnu to post a link to Koroma’s GoFundMe page on his Instagram, which now reports $16,595 raised from 850 donations toward a new vehicle, medical bills, and daily expenses. Koroma’s appeal explains that losing his car has left him without reliable transportation and job security.
While the fundraiser continues to gather contributions, Koroma’s next step is to secure a replacement vehicle, which he believes will allow him to return to DoorDash work and stabilize his finances. The campaign’s current target of $18,000 remains within reach, and the community’s response underscores the power of viral storytelling to mobilize aid.
