Bandi Sai Bageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, filed a complaint with the Karimnagar Two Town police on Saturday, alleging criminal intimidation, extortion, criminal conspiracy, and harassment by three persons, including a couple and their daughter. The police have registered a case under relevant sections and initiated an investigation.
The complaint states that Bageerath met the girl through a common friend and initially maintained a friendly relationship, but the family's behavior changed over time, and they began pressuring him to marry their daughter. When he refused, they allegedly threatened to file false cases against him and demanded ₹5 crore.
Bageerath claimed that he had given ₹50,000 to the girl's father out of fear but stated that the family was not satisfied and continued to demand more money. He also mentioned that some of his friends had a similar issue with the trio and had lodged a complaint against them at Nirmal police station on April 21.
The police will continue investigating the allegations, and the next steps in the case are expected to be taken soon. The court will likely review the case and decide on further action.
