DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday called on the new government to continue the welfare schemes implemented during the party's tenure, citing their long-term benefits for women, youth, students, children, government employees, and marginalized communities. In a social media post, he said the state's development trajectory would be sustained if these programs were preserved.
Stalin welcomed the decision by alliance partners to remain in the Secular Progressive Alliance despite extending support to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam to resolve the ongoing political crisis. He noted that CPI(M), CPI, and VCK leaders had reaffirmed their solidarity with the DMK, highlighting their continued trust in the party's leadership.
The DMK chief observed that Congress MLAs elected under the DMK alliance did not visit Anna Arivalayam to express gratitude, and the party had severed ties abruptly. He thanked CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam, CPI State secretary M. Veerapandian, and VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan for their public support.
Stalin reiterated the DMK's commitment to coalition unity and stated that the party would engage with allies to ensure policy continuity. The political situation in Tamil Nadu remains fluid as parties navigate post-election alignments.
