DJ Akademiks took to his livestream on Thursday to caution Kai Cenat that the lawsuit he filed against former friend Reggie Travers could expose more than the alleged grooming accusations. The dispute erupted after Travers posted videos claiming Cenat groomed a 17‑year‑old streamer from the Clover Boys community, a claim Cenat has denied outright.
On October 2, Cenat’s legal team launched a cease‑and‑desist letter demanding Travers remove the videos and rejecting the allegations of pedophilia and sex‑for‑promotion. The letter also accused Travers of threatening Cenat’s staff and disrupting his business operations.
During the stream, Akademiks warned that once a case is in court, questions will spill over the original claims. He said Cenat could be pressed to explain how he runs his business, the nature of his relationship with his girlfriend, and what happened during filming at the Clover Boys house where Travers and other streamers worked.
Akademiks argued the lawsuit would only help Cenat if his own narrative remains consistent. "If Kai is capping or hiding details, filing a lawsuit doesn’t help," he said, implying that any inconsistency could backfire.
No judge has yet ruled on the temporary restraining order request that Travers plans to challenge. Meanwhile, Cenat has not publicly responded to Akademiks’ remarks, and the outcome of the legal battle remains uncertain.
