Rajnath Singh Releases Documentary on Operation Sindoor Airstrikes
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday released a 28-minute documentary on Operation Sindoor, marking its first anniversary during the Joint Commanders' Conference in Jaipur. The film, shared online by the Integrated Defence Staff, outlines India's military response to cross-border terrorism, including airstrikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7.
The documentary reveals the use of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) satellites for target acquisition and highlights the operational planning behind the strikes, which Indian officials say neutralised at least 100 terrorists. It includes visuals of key sites targeted, such as the Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke, and shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi authorising the action.
Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti stated that Indian forces struck 11 Pakistani airfields, destroyed 13 aircraft, and eliminated a high-value airborne target over 300 kilometres away. Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes, which India claims were successfully intercepted.
The conflict subsided on May 10 after military talks via hotline led to a mutual pause in hostilities. India has since reiterated it will not accept nuclear coercion from Pakistan.
The documentary's release underscores the government's focus on projecting military capability and strategic autonomy; the armed forces will continue joint assessments and readiness drills in the coming weeks.
