ICE Arrests Two Indian Nationals for Serious Crimes

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested two Indian nationals, Hemant Khann-Kumar and Rinkeshkumar Kaushikbhai Patel, for prior criminal convictions in the United States. Hemant Khann-Kumar was convicted in Contra Costa County, California, for an attempted lewd act upon a child, while Rinkeshkumar Kaushikbhai Patel was convicted in Bradley County, Tennessee, for conspiracy to commit theft involving more than $60,000.
The arrests were part of a weekend crackdown on undocumented immigrants with serious criminal records, including manslaughter, sexual battery, and criminal sexual conduct involving minors.
According to ICE, the agency took custody of Patel from the Bradley County Jail and will hold him pending removal proceedings.
The enforcement agency said that ICE never takes a day off and that the arrests demonstrate the agency's commitment to removing criminals from communities. The court will resume hearing on the removal proceedings of the arrested individuals, with ICE officials set to testify on the cases.
