BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has criticized the BJP-led Central Government and the Congress government in Telangana over their handling of a POCSO case allegedly involving the son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar. KTR questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the BJP's 'Beti Bachao' campaign and demanded to know when Mr. Sanjay Kumar would be removed from the Union Cabinet.
KTR alleged that there was an unusual delay in taking legal action against the Minister's son and questioned whether the Union Minister and his family were being given special treatment under the law.
Targeting the Congress government, KTR alleged that the State administration had failed to ensure justice to the victim and instead subjected her family to harassment. He questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over 'selective outrage on crimes against women' and asked why the police failed to act despite the minor girl reportedly submitting evidence.
The case has sparked controversy, with KTR demanding that Mr. Sanjay Kumar should either resign on moral grounds or be dismissed immediately. The Telangana government has been accused of functioning like a 'BJP franchise', with KTR alleging an unholy nexus between the two parties.
The court is expected to take further action in the case, with the Telangana government facing mounting pressure to ensure justice for the victim. The Central Government has not yet responded to KTR's demands, but the issue is likely to be raised in upcoming parliamentary sessions.
