Jio Studios co-producer Jyoti Deshpande has confirmed that the Dhurandhar franchise is not over, teasing a major announcement later this year. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, she said, "We're not done with Dhurandhar yet. We'll hopefully have a surprise for the audience later this year. There's something up our sleeves."
The spy thriller series, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh as Indian agent Hamza Ali Mazari, has grossed over Rs 1,300 crore globally for the first film and Rs 1,792 crore for the second, titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The films, set in 2000s Pakistan, follow Singh's character as he infiltrates criminal networks and uncovers his origins. The ensemble cast includes Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and Rakesh Bedi.
Bedi, who played Jameel Jamali in both films, recently cast doubt on a direct sequel, telling reporters in a Zoom interview that he does not believe a third part is in active development. "The story ends with the spy going back to his nation," he said, adding that the franchise could continue with new actors. No official title, cast, or release date has been announced.
Deshpande's statement has reignited fan speculation about the franchise's future. Jio Studios and director Aditya Dhar are expected to release further details about the upcoming project by the end of the year.
