Inter Kashi head coach Antonio Habas has departed the club with immediate effect, the club confirmed, with assistant coach Abhijit taking over on an interim basis for the remaining two matches of the season. Habas, who led the team to the I-League title in 2025, announced his exit on social media, stating, 'Trust is built through keeping commitments, and unfortunately, when those commitments are not fulfilled, trust is lost.'
The 68-year-old Spaniard had been under contract until the end of the season and is the only manager to have won both the I-League and the Indian Super League titles. His exit follows his public remarks last month criticizing the club's management, in which he said players and staff might not receive salaries and described the club's situation as 'very, very complicated.'
The club attributed Habas's comments to ongoing legal challenges stemming from disputes involving Churchill Brothers. Inter Kashi, currently 10th in the ISL table, will face Mohun Bagan Super Giants next, with their final match scheduled against SC Delhi on May 17.
The club has not announced a permanent replacement, and interim coach Abhijit will oversee team preparations for the upcoming fixture.
