The airline also raised the excess baggage rate to ₹800 per kilogram, up from ₹700, and increased the unaccompanied‑minor fee to ₹5,999 from ₹5,000. Priority check‑in and boarding will now cost ₹650, a ₹200 hike, and travel certificates will jump to ₹300 from ₹200.
Sources told Times Now that the revisions stem from a periodic review of ancillary pricing, citing rising fuel costs, higher operating expenses, and longer international routes caused by airspace closures.
Industry insiders note that sluggish demand in the Middle East has compounded the pressure on carriers, prompting airlines to adjust ancillary charges to maintain profitability.
Passengers who have already booked flights will see these new fees reflected in their receipts, while those purchasing tickets at the counter will pay the higher infant and baggage rates. IndiGo has yet to issue an official statement, but the changes are already in effect and will be visible on the airline’s website and at ticket counters tomorrow.
