Punjab Twin Blasts: BJP Seeks Action Against CM, AAP Alleges Plot to Incite Unrest

The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday sought action against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over his statements regarding the twin blasts on Tuesday, accusing him of sedition. The blasts, which occurred near military areas in Amritsar and Jalandhar, have sparked a political row, with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleging the BJP is plotting unrest in the State ahead of next year's Assembly poll.
The BJP delegation, led by State unit chief Sunil Jakhar, visited the police chief's office to press for a probe into the CM's allegations, which they termed as baseless and dangerous for communal harmony. The BJP leaders told the police to arrest them if evidence emerges of their involvement, otherwise, action should be initiated against the CM and AAP leaders.
The CM has defended his statements, saying the BJP's anti-Punjab mindset had been exposed repeatedly, while Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh alleged the twin explosions were part of the BJP's strategy for the 2027 election under Mission Punjab.
The Punjab BJP president said they would press for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the CM's statements and employ all democratic measures to protect the State's communal harmony. The case is likely to be taken up further, with the BJP planning to pursue the matter through democratic channels, and the State government expected to respond to the allegations in the coming days.
