Indian-Origin IT Worker Dies Suddenly in Florida, Family Faces Hardship

Sunil Kumar Gundrai, an Indian-origin IT professional employed at Capgemini in Tampa, Florida, died of a sudden heart attack on the night of May 7, 2026, according to a statement from community nonprofit NATS Helpline. He was 38 and is survived by his wife and two young children.

Gundrai, originally from Gadwal in Telangana, had moved to the United States to build a stable future for his family and was the sole earning member of the household. His death has left the family facing immediate financial and emotional challenges, particularly as they are isolated from extended family and traditional support networks in India.

A GoFundMe campaign launched by NATS Helpline has raised $64,553 as of Sunday, with 789 donations received toward a $200,000 goal. Funds are intended to cover funeral costs, living expenses, and long-term educational support for Gundrai's children.

NATS Helpline continues to appeal for public contributions, stating that the support will help the family stabilize during the crisis. The U.S. and Indian consular authorities have not issued formal statements, and no official inquiry has been announced.
