Dubai has launched its first fully AI-integrated smart bus station at Mall of the Emirates, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced. The station offers 24/7 digital services, real-time passenger information, and seamless connectivity with the Red Line Metro, aiming to enhance efficiency and comfort for commuters across residential, commercial and tourist zones.
The station serves 11 bus routes — including six Metro feeders, three internal routes and two seasonal services — connecting areas such as Al Quoz, Dubai Internet City, Jumeirah Village Circle, Sports City and Global Village. Buses operate from 5:00am to midnight, with frequencies ranging from 15 to 30 minutes depending on route and traffic conditions. Real-time tracking is available via the RTA's S'hail app and digital displays within the station.
Equipped with AI-powered cameras, the station monitors crowd density, detects violations and manages passenger flow. Interactive kiosks, live transit updates and air-conditioned waiting areas are integrated into the design, which links directly to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station and supports nol card and digital mobility platforms. RTA Director General Mattar Al Tayer said the project aligns with Dubai's vision for a seamless, tech-driven public transport network.
The launch underscores Dubai's broader strategy to expand smart infrastructure across its transport system, including ongoing Metro expansions and digital upgrades. RTA officials stated the model could be replicated at other major transit hubs to improve reliability and ridership.
The RTA will monitor passenger feedback and operational performance over the coming months to assess scalability for future smart station deployments.
