Daniel Park, a collector from the US, has been awarded a Guinness World Record for the largest collection of Bearbrick toys, with a total of 3,482 pieces. The collector, known as BrickChicago on social media, officially claimed the title in March, with his collection featuring a wide range of colorful plastic figurines from the popular Bearbrick brand.
Park's journey as a collector began five years ago when he opened a single blind box, and since then, he has transformed his home office into a museum-like space dedicated to the collectible figures.
The Bearbrick brand was first introduced in 2001 by Tatsuhiko Akashi, founder of the toy company Medicom, as a gift for participants attending the World Character Convention in Tokyo.
The previous record for the largest Bearbrick collection was set in 2020 by Chinese collector Gao Ke, with 1,008 figures, but Park's collection has surpassed that total by a large margin.
Speaking about his passion for collecting, Park said the standard Bearbrick platform allows for endless creative expression while keeping the same iconic shape and design.
The Guinness World Records will continue to monitor and verify record attempts, with Park's achievement set to be featured in upcoming publications and online platforms.
