The unrest erupted on April 25 in Songadh town after a social media post that many residents found offensive, sparking a stone‑pelting brawl that left the neighborhood in chaos. Bakul Chaudhari, who said the remarks were aimed at breaching communal harmony, stood near his house as stones rattled the front door.
Immediately, the Tapi district police deployed extra officers to key points, launched an investigation, and reconstructed the crime scene publicly. Deputy Superintendent Ishwar Parmar told reporters that the suspects were escorted from the station to the victim’s residence for forensic evidence collection — a move meant to deter further agitation.
Among those taken into custody are Wasim Sheikh, Farhan Mansuri, Shakir Pathan, Javed Pathan, Musharraf Bagwan, Hamza Sheikh, Adil Mansuri, Tausif Khatik, and Altaf Mansuri. Legal proceedings have been initiated against each, while police continue to pursue the remaining five or so individuals who slipped away.
Community leaders from all sides have urged restraint, with Gaurav Chaudhari lamenting the terror of the night. Heavy police presence remains in Songadh, and officials warn that any attempt to disrupt law and order will meet swift action.
